28 March 2022 - Air Temp 25 deg and Water Temp 38 deg

Traxton, Hunter, Todd, Travis, and I started fishing in the afternoon when the wind went down to 16 mph.  We started East of South Bass Island and trolled with the waves towards Kelleys Island. The wind slowly went down throughout the afternoon. Trolling speeds were between 1.3 and 2 mph.  Purple and Pink Top 20's and the Red and Gold Deep Bandits were the most productive with 100 to 130 foot of line out. The Barometric pressure was at 30.26 and the 18 fish ranged from 18 1/2 to 26 3/4 inches.

29 March 2022 was a chilly day on Lake Erie with an 8 mph North wind. We came in with a limit of nice Walley ranging from 19 1/2 to 26 inches. We averaged right at 24 inches per fish. The Walleye were active most of the day when we could find cleaner water. Trolling speeds ranged from 1.1 to 1.7 and we let from 100 to 130 foot of line out. The hot lure for the day was purple, pink, and chartreuse Bandits. Other Bandit colors were sun spot, wild thing, blue chrome, and blue shiner. The air temp was 25 deg and the water temp was 37.7 deg. The Barometric pressure was 30.37.

We started fishing at 10:30 North of Kelley's Island in cleaner water in the 17 mph SE winds with trolling speed ranging from .4 to 2.4 mph. We let out 90 to 150 foot of line.  The Bandit lure, Sunspot caught half the fish. Other colors that caught fish were blue chrome, purple, pink, chartreuse, and electric zebra.  The barometric pressure dropped a bit to 29.86.  We fished in water depth from 44 to 54 foot.  We had 5 doubles today with the smallest fish at 18 1/2 inches and the largest was 27 inches.

1 April 2022- Air Temp 37 deg and Water Temp 39.8 deg

Todd, Travis, Traxton, Hunter and I started fishing northeast of Kelly's Island in 38 feet of clean water.  We got a late start because the winds were west to northwest at 19 mph.  The Barometric Pressure was at 29.88.  We had light snow flurries just before noon and again around 1:30. We trolled at speeds from .6 to 2.5 mph.  We let out from 90 to 150 foot of line. The most productive lures were Bandits and Top 20's. Bandit colors were sunspot, blue chrome, purple and pink. The Top 20 color was Marvin.  The guys ended the day with a limit of nice walleye with an average of 23 inches.         

2 April 2022

We started fishing east of Kelly's Island in 42 feet of clean water. The winds switched to the southwest at 3 mph. The Barometric Pressure raised to 30.19. We trolled at speeds from 1.2 to 1.4 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 90 to 150 foot of line. The most productive lures were custom painted flicker minnows by Travis, Bandits and Top 20's. Flicker minnow colors were blue chrome and bleak. Bandit colors were sunspot, blue chrome, khaki, purple and pink. The Top 20 color was Marvin. We got a nice limit of walleye with a little better average than yesterday.

Ken, Kyle, John, Dan, and I started fishing between Kelly's Island and Middle Bass Island in 32 to 34 feet of stained to clean water. The winds picked up a bit from the southwest at around 8 mph. The Barometric Pressure was 30.05. We trolled at speeds from 1.2 to 1.8 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 80 to 160 foot of line. The most productive lures were custom painted flicker minnows by Travis, and blue Bandits.

Ken, Kyle, John, Dan, and I started fishing between Kelly's Island and Middle Bass Island in 32 to 45 feet of stained to clean water.  We moved to Rattle Snake around 5;00 and the water temperature was 41 deg. The wind blew at 10 mph from the southeast. The Barometric Pressure stayed at 30.05. We trolled at speeds from 1.2 to 2.0 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 80 to 160 foot of line. We used multiple colors of flicker minnows, bandits, and top 20's.

We fished between Green Island and Rattle Snake Island in 32 to 33 feet of stained to clean water. The wind blew at 3 mph from the west. The Barometric Pressure dropped to 28.89. We trolled at speeds from 1.1 to 1.7 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 50 to 70 foot of line. Blue Chrome and sunspot bandits were the productive lures.

6 April 2022- Air Temp 45 deg and Water Temp 40.4 deg

We fished between Green Island and Rattle Snake Island in 33 to 44 feet of stained to clean water. The wind blew at 10 mph from the south east. The Barometric Pressure was 29.67. We trolled at speeds from 1.2 to 1.9 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 50 to 110 foot of line. 60-80 feet out worked the best. Blue Chrome and purple & pink bandits were the productive lures.

7 April 2022- Air Temp 45 deg and Water Temp 39-40 deg

We fished near the border in 38 to 43 feet of stained to clean water. The wind blew from the south at 13 mph. The Barometric Pressure was 29.62. We trolled at speeds from 1.2 to 2.0 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 50 to 110 foot of line. Blue Chrome and purple & pink bandits were the productive lures. Amelia's custom painted bandit lure worked very well.

8 April 2022

We fished near the border in 38 to 42 feet of stained to clean water. The wind blew from the southwest at 14 mph. The Barometric Pressure was 29.63. We trolled at speeds from .9 to 2.0 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 50 to 110 foot of line with 60-80 out working the best.  Multiple colors of bandits caught fish. Amelia's custom painted bandit lure also worked very well again.

Bob, Paul, Ron, and I fished near the border in 38 to 42 feet of stained to clean water. The wind blew from the northwest at 6 mph. The Barometric Pressure was 30.06. We trolled at speeds from 1 to 1.7 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 40 to 80 foot of line. Multiple colors of bandits caught fish. Ron and Bob each caught a nice proud angler walleye.

After the thunderstorm we fished near the border again in 38 to 42 feet of stained to clean water. The wind blew all day, so we trolled at higher speeds from .3 to 2.1 mph along with stop and goes. We let out from 60 to 90 foot of line. Multiple colors of bandits caught fish.

  The wind was from the west at 4 mph with light fog in the morning and cleared up throughout the day. The air temperature started at 44 deg and warmed up to about 50   deg's. The water temperature started out at 41.8 deg. and at the end of the day was 44 deg. We pulled Deep Bandits 35 to 80 foot of line out going 1.5 to 2.4 mph. The   barometric pressure started at 30.0 6 and ended at 29.96.

Bob, Ron, Paul, and I fished near G can. The wind was from the south at 14 mph.. The air temperature started at 50 deg and warmed up a bit until the wind started coming up. The water temperature was 43.8 deg.  We pulled Deep Bandits with 15, 18, 20, 25, and 30 foot of line on one side of the boat and 50, 60, 70, and 80 out the other side going 1.1 to 2.0 mph. The most productive colors were pink squirrel, pink lemonade, and blue chrome. The barometric pressure started at 29.81. We finished up shortly after noon with a limit of nice walleye, including three proud anglers.

15 April 2022- Air Temp 47 deg and Water Temp 43 deg

We started fishing near G can in 24 feet of stained water. The wind was out of the southwest at 14 mph. The Barometric Pressure dropped to 29.97. We trolled at speeds from 1.1 to 2.9 mph with the waves. We let out from 23 to 90 foot of line. The most productive lure was fire tiger deep bandits. Later in the day we moved over to the chute and Paul landed a nice walleye over 30 inches.  

16 April 2022- Air Temp 43 deg and Water Temp 44 deg

We started fishing in the morning near the chute and moved to the border near Kelly's Island. The wind was out of the northwest at 12 mph. The Barometric Pressure was up a bit to 30.00. We trolled at speeds from 1 to 2 mph with the waves. We let out 30 to 50 foot of line on one side and 60 to 90 on the other side of the boat. The most productive lure was the fire tiger deep bandit again. Paul caught another 30 incher.

18 April 2022 - Wind and Snow

Tom, Jay, Allan, and I started fishing in the morning near Green and Rattle Snake catching a couple of fish right away and then we moved near Kelly's Island. The wind started out of the east at 18 mph. and then calmed down and switched to a westerly wind reaching up to 20 mph. by the time we made it to the dock. It started to snow at 11:30 and continued until 3:30 when it started raining. The Barometric Pressure started at 30.05 and dropped to 29.9. We trolled at speeds from .7 to 2 mph with the waves. We let out 30 to 120 foot of line out with 80 foot out catching the majority of the fish The most productive lure was electric zebra, reflection, and purple deep bandits. The heated cab worked very well for the day!!

We started fishing in the morning west of South Bass Island and picked up a couple of fish and then we moved to the west of Kelly's Island. The wind started out of the northwest at 4 mph. and switched from the west reaching up to 15 mph. when we headed in. The Barometric Pressure started at 30.33. We trolled at speeds from 1.1 to 1.8 mph mostly with the waves. We let out 80 to 110 feet of line with 90 foot out catching the majority of the fish. The most productive lure was blue chrome, wild thing, reflection, and purple deep bandits.

We started fishing in the morning north of South Bass Island and picked up a couple of fish and then we moved to the west side of Kelly's Island near the border and to the chute, We ended the day back at the north side of South Bass Island. The wind started out of the southwest at 21 mph. and switched from the west dropping to 17 mph. when we headed in. The Barometric Pressure was 30.03. We trolled at speeds from 1.0 to 2.0 mph. We let out 50 to 110 feet of line. We used bandits, reef runners, and bay rats.

We started fishing in the morning northwest of Kelly's Island and trolled towards Middle Bass Island with the waves. The water temperature was 46.4 deg and the air temperature was 45 deg. The wind was 13 mph from the east in the morning and picked up to 14 mph. at 2:00 PM when we headed in. The Barometric Pressure was 30.47. We trolled at speeds from 1.2 to 2.2 mph. We let out 80 to 110 feet of line. We used bandits with blue chrome, reflection, and green & orange working the best. We had a lot of chaos in the boat with one triple, four on at one time, and five at the same time at 12:45.

We brought in a nice limit of fish and Tom reeled in a 29 inch walleye.

Mike, Brad, Brian, Greg, and I fished for about six hours in the afternoon. We fished at the west end of North Bass Island and caught 28 walleyes with Brad landing the largest one at 27 inches. The water temperature was 48.3 deg and the air temperature was 69 deg. The wind was 17 mph from the southwest and the barometric pressure was 29.97. We trolled with the waves at .9 to 2.0 mph using deep bandits with 70 to 110 foot of line out. Pink Lemonade, blue chrome, sunspot, and clown were the best colors.

Mike, Brad, Brian, Greg, and I fished for five hours with rain most of the day. We fished at the west end of North Bass Island and caught 34 walleyes with the largest one measuring 26 3/4 inches. The water temperature was 48.6 deg and the air temperature was 58 deg. The wind was 6 mph from the southwest and calmed down shortly after noon. The barometric pressure was 29.95. We trolled from 1.2 to 2.0 mph using deep bandits with 80 to 110 foot of line out. Pink Lemonade, blue chrome, sunspot, reflection and clown were all good colors.

We fished at the west end of North Bass Island again and caught 26 walleyes with the largest one measuring 27 1/2 inches. The water temperature was 48.4 deg and the air temperature was 45 deg. and cooled off throughout the day. The wind started out at 11 mph from the west and slowly got up to 17 mph by 3:00 so we headed in. The barometric pressure was 30.18. We trolled from 1.0 to 2.0 mph using deep bandits with 80 to 110 foot of line out. Pink Lemonade, blue chrome, sunspot, reflection and clown were all good colors again.

We started fishing around 9:30 close to the dock because of the high winds. We started on the east side of Middle Bass Island and moved to the east side of North Bass Island and went through the chute and made a final pass with the wind about 5 miles west of North Bass Island. We caught only 11 walleyes with the largest one measuring 24 1/2 inches. The water temperature was 47.7 deg and the air temperature was 36 deg. and warmed up a bit to 39 deg. When we started fishing the wind was 17 mph from the northwest and slowly dropped to 15 mph. The barometric pressure was 30.28. We trolled from 1.0 to 2.0 mph using deep bandits with 80 to 110 foot of line out. Pink Lemonade and sunspot were the productive colors.

We started fishing 8:00 northeast of Kelly's and caught one walleye, so. we moved to the northeast side of Rattle Snake Island and caught a couple more. We finally moved for the last time to the northeast of North Bass Island and caught 24 walleyes with the largest one measuring 25 1/4 inches. The water temperature was 48.1 deg and the air temperature was 35 deg. When we started fishing the wind was 9 mph from the northeast. The barometric pressure was 30.36. We trolled from 1.0 to 2.0 mph using deep bandits with 80 to 110 foot of line out. Pink Lemonade and sunspot were the productive colors.

Got the lower unit repaired and we were able to get back to fishing again. We started fishing north of North Bass Island and Lyndon caught a 28-inch walleye and then the fish shut off, so we moved to the west side of Kelly's and started catching more fish. The water temperature was 51.4 deg and the air temperature was 58 deg. The wind was 10 mph from the southeast. The barometric pressure was 30.18. We trolled from .9 to 2.2 mph using deep bandits with 45 to 100 foot of line out. Khaki, blue chrome, and sunspot were the productive colors. After a cold north front, the fishing was tough, and we ended the day with 15 walleyes.  Most of the fish we caught today were 23 inches.

We started fishing between South Bass and Mouse Island near the ferry line and started catching fish while we were letting the lines out. We caught 4 fish right away and went about an hour with no fish, so we moved over by Kelly's Island and started catching fish again. The water temperature warmed up to 53 deg and the air temperature was 58 deg.  When we started fishing the wind was 13 mph from the southeast. The barometric pressure was 30.23. We trolled from 1.2 to 2.2 mph using deep bandits with 45 to 120 foot of line out. Khaki, sunspot, and blue chrome were the productive colors.

Lyndon, Justin, Dave, and I started fishing between Kelly's and South Bass where we caught 5 fish and then moved between South Bass and Middle Bass Island where we caught another 20 fish. The water temperature continued to warm up to 54 deg and the air temperature was 61 deg. When we started fishing the wind was 8 mph from the southeast. The barometric pressure was 30.21. We trolled from 1 to 2 mph using deep bandits with a wide range from 45 to 180 foot of line out. We had 180, 170, 160, 150 out on the starboard side and 160, 150, 140, 130, on the port side. We also had the two small planer boards out on the front at 45 and 50. We caught fish on all the rods. Khaki, sunspot, pink lemonade, and blue chrome were the productive colors.

Lyndon, Justin, Dave, and I started fishing near the border and between Kelly's and South Bass Island. We finished the day between South and Middle Bass Islands. The water temperature warmed up to 54.8 deg and the air temperature was 53 deg. The wind was 5 mph from the east. The barometric pressure was 30.21. We trolled from 1.4 to 1.7 mph using deep bandits ranging from 90 to 130 foot of line out. We also had the two small planer boards out on the front at 45 and 50. We caught fish on all the rods. Khaki, sunspot, fire tiger, and blue chrome were the productive colors.

We started fishing between South Bass, Sugar, and Rattle Snake Islands.  We caught 19 fish along with Justin's wall hanger over 28". The water temperature continued to warm up to 57 deg and the air temperature was 61 deg. When we started fishing the wind was 7 mph from the southeast. The barometric pressure was 30.12. We trolled from 1.4 to 1.7 mph and at times sped up to 2.0 mph. We used deep bandits with two-ounce snap weights at a range from 65 to 90 foot of line out. Khaki, sunspot, chrome huff daddy, parakeet, blue mist and blue chrome were the productive colors.

Jeff, Brian, John, Larry, and I started fishing in the afternoon northwest of Green Island and then between the islands. After an hour or so we headed out a few miles west of Rattle Snake and the fishing picked up. The water surface temperature warmed up to 64 deg and the air temperature was 61 deg. The wind was 5 mph from the northwest. The barometric pressure was 29.89. We trolled from 1.4 to 1.7 mph and at times sped up to 2.0 mph. We used deep bandits at a range from 50 to 140 foot of line out. electric zebra, blue mist, fire tiger, and blue chrome were the productive colors. We ended up with 15 walleyes and John caught a nice one close to 28 inches.

Brian, Jeff, Larry, John, and I started fishing in the afternoon northwest of Green Island and then northeast of North Bass and ended the day between the islands. The water surface temperature was 59.2 deg and the air temperature started out at 54 deg. and warmed up throughout the day The wind was 10 mph from the northwest. The barometric pressure was 29.80. We trolled from 1.3 to over 2 mph at times. We used deep bandits at a range from 40 to 140 foot of line out. Carrot Top, Red Gold, were the productive colors. We ended up with 20 walleyes for the day.

We fished on all sides of South Bass Island with most fish caught west of Rattle Snake and ended the day catching a few more between Rattle and Middle Bass islands. The water surface temperature started at 59.8 deg and warmed up to 64 deg at times. The air temperature started out at 53 deg. and warmed up throughout the day The wind was 10 mph from the north and calmed down in the afternoon. The barometric pressure was 29.96. We trolled from 1.0 to 2.2 mph. We used deep bandits at a range from 55 to 140 foot of line out. Carrot Top, Red Gold, and green clown were the productive colors. We ended up with 18 walleyes for the day.
